Professional Career

Octavian Catrina is Assistant Professor of Computer Networks and Information Security in the School of Information Technology of the International University in Germany. Before joining the International University, he was assistant and then Lecturer (Networks and Software research group) in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Politehnica University of Bucharest (1989-1998). In 1997 and 1998 he was a visiting researcher at Institut National des Télécommunications (INT), Evry, France.

During 1993-2000 he focused on the application of formal description techniques in the design, validation and automated implementation of communication protocols. His current research areas include network security (applied cryptography and security protocols), advanced Internet technologies (QoS, multicast) and P2P overlay networks.
